2. Alphabet Journal

Alphabet Journal is a kind of A to Z encyclopedia about a topic. It's not just an activity for practicing spelling. Students are asked to gather ideas about the given topic with a specific restriction : Each word should start with letter A to Z related with the given topic.

Tip 1: For introduction of the activity, I use the 'Do-re-mi song' as it is easy to sing together and fun.
Tip 2 : If we ask students to do all the letters, it could be burdensome to finish in a class. In addition, there are some letters, like X, Q or Z, that are difficult to match words. Therefore, as a modified activity, I usually use the spellings of students' name.
